- best (older) movie I watched in 2008 and hadn’t seen before: Dr. Strangelove, closely followed by The Player,
- best newly released movie: Michael Clayton, closely followed by Interview, unfortunately I didn’t see the original verson of this film, but only the US remake.
- weirdest movie I watched in 2008: Inland Empire,
- best animated movie: Persepolis,
- best TV serial: Desperate Housewives, as the years before, closely followed by Heroes,
- best book I read in 2008: The Judgement of Paris by Ross King, which deals with the history of Impressionism,
- best podcast, as in 2007: Der Tag, on Hessischer Rundfunk, esp. Wenn tumbe Typen Terror machen (When dim dudes do terror) & Das BKA-Gesetz: Selbstmord aus Angst vor dem Tod (The German anti-terror law: Suicide for fear of death),
- best Compact Disk I bought in 2008: Judy at Carnegie Hall by Judy Garland,
- best Web 2.0 idea: last.fm, I could have discovered it before… (Wikipedia on last.fm),
- best music I discovered in 2008: Charles Ives: Central Park in the Dark.
