Since I bought a PowerBook, which I started to use on January 1st, 2006, I immersed myself into the world of podcasting and multimedia, although I didn’t succeed in producing my own podcast (with one exception thanks to Tim). Interestingly enough, I managed to watch a lot of movies and to read some books too, although 2006 was a fairly busy year. Here is the shortlist of the best I came across:
- best (older) movie I saw in 2006 and hadn’t seen before: Fight Club, although closely followed by Donnie Darko (which I saw twice) and La mala educación,
- best 2006 movie: Lucky Number Slevin or Brick, I can’t make up mind right now,
- best TV serial: Desperate Housewives,
- best novel I read in 2006: We,
- funniest novel: Wilt (although I finished it only in the first days of 2007),
- best blog (this is a difficult choice!): Gayya kuyusu,
- best personal podcast (also a difficult choice): Macmaniacs, not daily anymore, but still alive and kicking;
- best radio podcast: ZeitZeichen: this is a radio show I used to listen to when I still lived in the area of the Westdeutscher Rundfunk; thanks to podcasting, I rediscovered it! Great!
- best Compact Disk: Brokeback Mountain (soundtrack),
- weirdest website: weirdweirdworld.com: hukl, a friend of mine from the Chaos Computer Club came up with a very simple idea: his website simply shows the latest pictures from LiveJournal; take a look at it and you’ll see how weird the world is… simply a great idea!
- best theatrical production: Götterdämmerung at the Nationaltheater Munich, even better than this year’s new production of Der Ring des Nibelungen, which I saw at the Bayreuth Festival.
- funniest theatrical production: The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) at the State Theater Nürnberg.
